Welcome to RiverRun Bookstore

If you live along the New Hampshire Seacoast (all 17 miles of it) you already know us as your friendly neighborhood bookstore, situated in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, NH. We hope you will stop in and meet us face to face, browse our great selection of books, and attend one of our many fantastic events. We work hard to make RiverRun an indispensable part of the Portsmouth community.

Sadly, dear reader, you cannot be in Portsmouth all the time. We hope this website will bring a bit of store to you  wherever you are. You can read our staff recommendations, find out about upcoming events, and take part in our online conversation about great books by posting to our blog.

And, I'm happy to say that you can now buy books from us online. By clicking on the "Buy Books" button on any page, you can go to our commerce site, which is run by the book distributor Baker & Taylor. It's not as pretty as we'd make it (if we ruled the world), but it allows you to research titles and authors, and gives you access to most everything in print. We offer free shipping to anywhere in the continental United States, so you can be part of the RiverRun experience wherever you may roam.

We hope you enjoy exploring our home on the web, and we hope you'll stop in and see us in Portsmouth whenever you're in town.

Can you believe it's 2009 already? Another year of lots of events is before us. I can't believe how many big-named authors we brought to Portsmouth in 2008.  Through community partnerships, we were able to bring everyone from Bill McKibben to Augusten Burroughs. How's that for variety? Take a look at a list of some of the big events we hosted.  Boston is considered one of the most literary cities.  I'd say Portsmouth is right up there; we are a town full of enthusiastic readers who come out to see debut authors and the big names as well.  Take a look at some of the authors who gave readings in the past year.  What were your favorite events?

Locally owned, locally operated, locally involved.
